I am the Head of Paradise School.

I have been with Paradise from the beginning, August 2016.

I hold a Masters degree in Social Sciences from Tata Institute of Social Sciences ( TISS ), Mumbai and a degree in Management from Wye College UK, along with a  B.ed and CELTA. I have been involved in the Development and Education field since 1994, having worked with ILO, EU and Ford Foundation in the areas of Education and Empowerment of communities.

As a School Leader, Head and Educator, I wholeheartedly believe that cultivating authentic relationships with students, teachers and parents is the foundation to nurturing the next generation.  Paradise is the space which allows learners to flourish by promoting and encouraging the learners to think for themselves, share their ideas however wild they are and let them take charge of their learning, beyond just completing curriculums, with the support and guidance of the educators. This is what is needed in the present context of this ever changing world. Paradise provides that environment which prepares every learner to follow their dream.

For me Paradise is just not a school, it is “Paradise” where everyone flourishes and grows together.

I am the School Co-ordinator for Paradise School.

With a Masters degree in both English and Education I have been working in the field of education for over 13 years. I started my career as a Middle School English Educator in Chandigarh and have been associated with Paradise School as the School Coordinator for the last 3 years.

Building a little Paradise for our learners is what I look forward to each day at work and there is  an immense satisfaction in watching our learners grow and evolve into the best version of themselves. Paradise provides this opportunity to not only its students, but to the educators and staff as well.

I am the Cambridge Examinations Officer for Paradise School.

I have a long standing relationship with Cambridge and have worked in liaison with them for over 7 years, 6 of which have been at Paradise. 

My focus is to create a stress-free environment for our learners who are taking their IGCSE and A Level exams with us. 

We are also passionate and committed at Paradise School to support the home-schooling and alternative education community in India and this is why our Centre is open to Private Candidates also.

I am the SOLE Ambassador for Paradise School.

As Chuck Palahniuk said, “What we call chaos is just patterns that we don’t recognize.” As an educator, we know that the classroom is always on the brink of total chaos. But what if we welcomed the mayhem instead of holding it back? The SOLE method helps us transmute the classroom chaos into BIG spontaneous bursts of cerebral creativity. As SOLE ambassador, I encourage our teachers to shift the narrative of disorganization in a classroom to self-organization. This helps us discover new, learner-centric ways of pedagogy which creates a unique educational environment.

More importantly, it helps students discard the fear of asking the wrong questions and finding the wrong answers. In doing so, it helps them leave the harsh conditioning of the conventional schooling system behind by forging a new path at Paradise that activates children’s relationship with the world they live in.

My name is Navedita

I facilitate learning for Foundation Year children.

I consider myself the first student in a classroom, driven by joyous wonder and immense curiosity for possibilities.

After completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from Delhi University, the curiosity about creative learning environments took me to an unconventional field of knowledge at Swaraj University, Udaipur, Rajasthan for a “Self-Designed Learning Programme”.

My interest in pedagogy and psychology brought me to Waldorf and the Krishnamurti Philosophy of Education, receiving training in several modalities like Nonviolent Communication, Art of Hosting, Mindfulness based Counselling and so on.

In 2020, I completed my courses in Waldorf teaching approach for Arts, Science, Mathematics and English.

My commitment towards holistic growth of children solidified when I joined Paradise School in 2021 as Pottery teacher with an Integrative approach.

Today I am a practitioner of all things fun discovering paths leading to an Art-integrated learning environment. I find myself weaving possibilities at this intersection where art meets pedagogical thinking to develop a framework that can sustain the element of “PLAY” in an education system promoting awareness, inclusivity and acceptance of individual learning behaviour by defining the role of the imagination in learning: developing thinking that includes a creative as well an analytic component.

I'm Class Teacher for Stage 1 and I am the English Educator for the Lower Primary Learners.

I have done a Pre-Primary Teacher’s Training Course at the Niramala Institute, Goa. I also hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts .

Initially, I worked as a Pre-School teacher at The Rosary School, Miramar. Thereafter, I joined Shiksha Niketan School. In my 13 years as a Primary Teacher, Teaching Creative Writing, Poetry, Art, Craft and Singing, I covered alot of ground.

Paradise is a fabulous step in the right direction. The SOLE method is child-centric and provides a great opportunity for the learners to engage in research by giving them an environment for self discovery.

I am the Class Teacher for Stage 2 and I teach Science and Global Perspectives to Lower Primary.

 I hold a Bachelor’s degree from St. Xaviers College in Ahmedabad and have completed my Diploma in Elementary Education from SCERT, Goa 

I have been working with primary learners for the past 10 years. This is my third year of teaching at Paradise School. Paradise has given me the space and scope to explore and innovate different ways of teaching and learning since it is in sync with the changing times and is flexible in its approach to education. 

I bring forth a wholesome approach to learning, filled with hands-on activities and exploration.

I'm the Class Teacher for Stage 3 and Mathematics educator for Lower Primary.

I have been a successful educator supporting young children and young adults in formal and informal education with an experience of 5 years. This is my third wonderful year at Paradise.

I have been able to extend my skills by completing an advanced international certification in TESOL in June ’21 accredited by CPD service UK, ACTFL – U.S.A and TEFL Canada. My former education includes a Bachelor’s degree from St. Andrews College in Mumbai and a Diploma in ECCE and Primary education. I’m a certified Special Needs teacher. I also have completed a course in Montessori Mathematics.

At Paradise, I enjoy teaching Mathematics as a creative endeavour and I work towards eliciting the learner’s analytical and calculative skills connecting to real life situations. We hope to find a solution to every problem.

My name is Prachi

I'm the Class Teacher for Stage 4 and I'm the Mathematics educator for Upper Primary.

I earned my Bachelor of Commerce (Distinction) in Accountancy and Finance from University of Wollongong in Dubai and Bachelor of Education in Mathematics and Economics from University of Mumbai.

I have 6 years experience in tutoring Mathematics for different curriculums, including ICSE and CBSE. This is my first year at Paradise School Goa as a Mathematics educator. Prior to joining, I was teaching Primary Mathematics online at Cuemath.

Mathematics has been my favourite subject since childhood. I achieved the trophy for winning the 3rd position at the Mathematics Olympiad- Mathalon at University level.

I have very high expectations of myself as an educator as well as of my learners and I have always found this to be a formula for success !

I'm the Class Teacher for Stage 5 and I teach English and Drama to Upper Primary

In my English class, we debate many things including whether poetry is worth writing or not. I have a Masters in English studies and have attended theatre-making as well as physical theatre & movement courses in Mumbai, Pondicherry and Paris. In the last seven years, I have been an artist, actor, playwright, educator, and a manager in an arts space. My teaching philosophy is based on respect, curiosity and embodied learning. This is my first year at Paradise, and it has been a beautiful journey so far.

I'm the Class Teacher for Stage 6 and I teach for Science and Global Perspectives Upper Primary.

I have been part of the Paradise family since 2017. After graduating from school in ‘99, I pursued my interest in sports and volunteering. In 2009 I started working full time with the University of Cambridge, heading a Conservation Department in a reputed school in Sardinia, Italy. Working with this institution honed my knowledge of methodologies and allowed me to explore different teaching philosophies.

My main focus in our classroom is to build a strong base for our learners with importance given to transferable skills. SOLE is the soul of our classroom.

I am the Class Teacher for Group 1 and I teach English to Lower Secondary.

I have my Cambridge Certificate in Teaching and Learning. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing and Political Philosophy from Hampshire College, in Western Massachusetts. I’ve spent the last 7 years in the education field working with students in non-traditional environments, five of which have been at Paradise.

The unique learning environment at Paradise allows for growth in teaching and learning through a range of pedagogical approaches. The SOLE method and student led learning are a crucial part of my classroom. I believe that children are key stakeholders in creating and designing their own learning and must have the space and power to do so.

I'm the Class Teacher for Group 2 and I teach Maths to Lower Secondary

My philosophy of teaching is based on my views and beliefs on education developed over the past 8 years of teaching, 4 of which have been at Paradise. 

Teaching is an opportunity to love and empower children. I enjoy sharing my passion, understanding and knowledge of Mathematics with my learners. My aim is to develop their curiosity, instill a passion for numeracy and provide them with the necessary resources and skills to analyse the world around them. 

I use a variety of instructional, collaborative and experiential methods to actively engage my students considering their learning styles and aptitude. Being part of the CICT&L course held at Paradise helped me with understand this. Integrating technology in the classrooms has added more value to students learning beyond the classroom, especially in the areas of skill-based learning. 

This integrated multi-modal learning has helped students implement specific ideas at their point of need. Curiosity is generated by asking a BIG QUESTION either at the beginning of a new concept or at the end of it. This is how we integrate SOLE into our Maths learning.

I am the Class Teacher for Group 3 and I teach Combined Science and Environmental Management for Lower Secondary.

I have a Bachelors in Advanced Zoology & Biotechnology and a Masters in Counselling Psychology. Over the course of my career I’ve taught children in forests, classrooms, playgrounds, counselling rooms and orphanages. I’ve had the opportunity to teach children Science, Art, Photography, Wildlife, Psychology and Sports.

I believe that all children have an intrinsic passion to grow and SOLE gives them the right environment to become independent thinkers. Paradise School teaches children how to learn and that makes all the difference.

Having a background in Journalism and Sociology, I’m inclined to matters of truth, critical thinking and social order. That’s why I enjoy teaching Global Perspectives. I appreciate how Paradise School Goa allows me to explore my interests and important social issues with the students who are the next generation of world leaders.

I teach Art and Spanish for Primary and Lower Secondary

I began working at Paradise School in 2020 as an Art Teacher and this year I’m also teaching Spanish.

I am a trained Agro-Ecology engineer, a certified Spanish teacher and a self-taught artist and illustrator.

My interests as a professional revolve around Art, Education, Ecology and Languages. As a lifelong learner, it’s a joy and privilege to have the opportunity to encourage young minds to develop a personal way of expressing themselves through art and to open a window to other cultures and ways of thinking through a new language, in a never-ending path of learning and discovery.

I teach ancient Sanskrit Shlokas for Primary. I also teach Hindi to Lower Secondary

I hold a Diploma in Pharmacy and I have obtained a  Sanskrit  Certificate course from Sanskrit Bharati. I’m glad to be part of the Paradise team for the second consecutive year. Here at Paradise, I have been able to make thematic presentation of Bhagavad Gita Shlokas with the help of Vedic and contemporary tales. In addition to Sanskrit, I teach Hindi with emphasis on learning the conversational aspect of the language.

I teach Physical Education for Primary and Lower Secondary.

I have been teaching in Paradise School for the past 6 years and have enjoyed the experience tremendously. I am an athlete with a Bachelors in Communication. I have represented Goa in athletics several times over, won National medals and led teams at National level as Team Manager. 

Additionally, I am trained and certified in Zumba, EREPS Express and First Aid. 

Being a Physical Education teacher for the past 8 years has been my passion and profession. I love seeing children participating in sports, learning the skills and tactics of games and connecting with what their strong bodies can do. 

Paradise is a great environment for me to express myself as a teacher and also gives children a chance to share their thoughts too.

I teach Music to Primary and Lower Secondary.

I teach Music at Paradise School Goa. I am experienced in both performing music and teaching music; performing on stages all around Goa as well as teaching instruments and theory at music schools in the past.

Currently, I teach students from Foundation stage (4 years) up to Group 3 (14 years). My aim in my class is to create an atmosphere where children can actively listen to music rather than have a passive attitude to it. The idea is that children need to think about the media they consume and hence be conscious of what they listen to and what they like. To understand music critically and partake in the joys of performing music along with their colleagues.

Within my one year of teaching I have managed to train the children to sing an array of songs on stage. From simple retro tunes to Bollywood songs and back to English Pop. We now have a Music Room consisting of guitars, ukuleles, cajons and a bunch of shakers, clave sticks and tambourines.

Preparing students for our Annual Day School Play was my last project where they worked on different elements of the group like controlling how loud they sing and how they express themselves on stage.

I’m working towards making the school a place where one can always hear music.

My name is Mohnish

I teach Farming and Permaculture for Primary and Lower Secondary.

I teach how the natural world works by studying relationships between living beings. Observing and interacting in the garden is the essence of our Farming curriculum.

Apart from learning permaculture principles, ethics and techniques, the learners look after their own veggie patches and spend a lot of time outdoors on the days they have Farming with their feet and hands in the soil.

My vision is to create an environment which is conducive for the students to gain experience in practical life skills – like learning to grow and look after their plants, building healthy soil, working with ropes and bamboo, harvesting rainwater and also learning about the social side of agriculture.

I began my farming journey about 5 years ago and am a certified Permaculture Teacher. When I am not in class, I spend my time helping clients design and implement living systems at their gardens and farms.

I teach Digital Literacy for Primary.

Our really tiny and precious Stage 1 learners know me as an iPad teacher. It’s what I’ve chosen to go by now 🙂

The thought behind the subject I teach is to familiarise as well as sensitise a generation of learners who are being born at the peak of the digital revolution. It’s akin to impossible to live without devices and so the next best thing we can do is equip the younger generations with the correct tools to manoeuvre through these changes.

My way of teaching, as well as learning, revolves around hands-on practice and active research to understand revelations in the digital space in real time. The structure of teaching at Paradise aligns with these methods and brings out splendid results in the learners by allowing them to grow into aware and conscious Digital Citizens.

With an extensive background in advertising and digital marketing, the focus of my teaching is usually to make the learners curious about the virtual world but also be able to see it as a reality they must treat with utmost sensitivity and careful thought.

I guide Social and Emotional Learning for Primary and Secondary.

After completing a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Christ University, Bangalore, I began my journey into education and soon noticed many gaps in our systems here in India. I decided to retrain myself in educational pedagogy and practice. I soon completed a second Master’s degree, this time in Education, from Columbia University, New York, with a concentration in Social and Emotional Learning (SEL).

SEL is the process of developing self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills that are vital for school, work, and life success. From effective problem-solving to self-discipline, from impulse control to emotion management and better decision making skills, SEL provides a foundation for positive, long-term effects on kids, adults, and communities.

I am really thankful that Paradise School has been so progressive and innovative in terms of including SEL in the curriculum as a very novel (and critical) conversation has begun about emotional and social well- being, climate change and the role students play in healing themselves, their community, and the world around them.

I teach Dance for Foundation and Lower Primary

I am the Founder/Artistic director of GIPA – Goa Institute of Performing Arts. My passion towards dancing began from a very young age. I took part in, and won, many dance competitions. This challenge led me to form a group of like-minded dancers. As a choreographer, my dance routines have achieved many accolades and appreciation. Dancing used to be a hobby – now it has become a full-fledged career.

My dream is to have an International Dance School, competing worldwide and to explore my choreography skills and try out new styles of dancing.

Since 2006, I have acquired skills in Modern Jazz, Jazz Funk, Contemporary and Ballet and trained under DanceWorxs Co. Mumbai and also with Shiamak Davar Institute for Performing Arts.

I love working at Paradise School and sharing everything I know with our youngest learners, who enjoy moving so much and are natural and joyous dancers and performers.

I teach English and Global Perspectives for IGCSE.

I have a Master’s Degree in English Literature and have been tutoring learners in English Language and Literature in the IB, IGCSE and ISC curricula. I  have also tutored IB students in Theory of Knowledge for the past 6 years. I have a deep love for learning and exploring perspectives that make us human and help us to engage with each other more honestly and with greater clarity. Paradise School Goa engenders these principles within its primary ethos and makes for an amazingly vivid and insightful learning experience for learners and teachers alike.

I teach Maths and Physics for Coordinated Science for IGCSE.

I have been working with young adults for the last 15 years in the alternative international education space in a variety of practical subjects relating to Renewable Energies, Sciences, Mathematics & Technology. 

Here at Paradise with the flexible curriculum of Cambridge, I am able to explore these subjects through the student’s own experience. With the small groups we have here, I am able to provide individual attention to each learner and complement their strengths while supporting their weaknesses. 

The core principle used in my classroom is Personalised Learning. My first priority for our students is to learn to love the subject by encouraging them to discover principles and derive formulas and use them practically. We extensively learn through experiments and projects.

I teach Biology and Chemistry for Coordinated Science for IGCSE. learners.

I am a trained Microbiologist and have spent the last 11 working as a Teacher, Wildlife Biologist/Naturalist, Waste Management and Sanitation Consultant. I have 5 years of teaching experience of which one year has been spent at Paradise. 

It has been my experience that scientific learning can be made much more fun by providing a context to learning that is sometimes missing from mainstream Science education. I frequently journey with my learners into History, Political science, Anthropology, Economics and Ecology to trace the root that sparked a need for Science and its contributions in the first place. 

It’s been a very insightful and educational 18 months at Paradise as it really gives me the space and resources to customise pedagogy and be attentive to students’ individual needs.

I have 6+ years of experience in High School and Middle School environments. I have designed curriculums with an emphasis on practical problem solving. My aim is to create effective instructional programs to target an individuals’ learning gaps by meeting the needs of all learners. This makes learning a more immersive and interactive experience for all.

I teach Enterprise and Environmental Management for IGCSE.

Here at Paradise School Goa, with its innovative ideas and future-ready approach to education,  I have the creative freedom to explore the subjects of Enterprise and Environmental Management with our learners. 

As an Enterprise teacher, I guide students in developing important life skills such as prioritisation and time management with their projects, taking calculated risks, taking initiative, working in teams, making decisions – just to name a few. To nurture an education in independence is my goal as a teacher and to help them develop the skills and attributes required to overcome inevitable setbacks or failures they may encounter in their future pursuits. 

Observing nature is always exciting. As part of the Environmental Management classes we do experiments, go for field trips, make things using our hands, go for nature walks armed with our magnifying glasses and share interesting facts about various critters with each other. My goal for the learners in my EM classes is to be active participants in defining the future of their world.

I have been touched by the expression of art since the age of 5. What began as a liking in my childhood, turned into passion in my teens further becoming a way of seeing and being and living life.

I have a degree in Painting (B.V.A) and Printmaking (M.V.A) from M.S.University, Baroda and have been a practicing artist for a decade now.

My journey as a teacher began in Goa where I have been living and teaching in Cambridge International Schools for the past 4 years for the subject of Art and Design for AS and A levels. What got me hooked into
teaching these young adults is the very syllabus and structure designed by Cambridge wherein there is such intense research and development through exploring and experimenting of ideas, thoughts,
concepts via various materials, mediums and processes and seeing them formulate into meaningful understanding of the visuals.

How do I start with a student? It starts with a query for me wanting to learn about the student’s mind and what space he/she comes from. To understand this, I encourage them to unfold themselves by creating a mind-map through key words about their likings, ideas, thoughts etc.

This is where and when I, as a human, an artist and a mentor intervene with an intention of finding a common thread to weave a story around these verbal expressions into a visual language. I am immensely grateful to be blessed by this opportunity of continuous learning and unlearning in this process of exchanging art, knowledge and experiences.

The Primary and Lower Secondary conversational Spanish course emphasises listening, comprehension, and speaking and at IGCSE we formalise this into a qualification.

Through the study of everyday topic areas, learners gain insight into the cultures of countries and communities where Spanish is spoken and participate meaningfully in a simple conversation in the target language, using learned words, phrases, and short sentences in a limited number of familiar contexts and comprehensible to those accustomed to interacting with non-native speakers of the language.

I teach Psychology at A and AS Level.

After completing a Masters in Counselling Psychology from Christ University, Bangalore, I began my journey into education and soon noticed many gaps in our systems here in India. I decided to retrain myself in educational pedagogy and practice and this led me to complete a second Masters, this time in Education, from Columbia University, New York. 

Paradise School has empowered me with the freedom of thought that I need as an educator to create a classroom environment that is enriching for the learners (and for me, too!). I trust that we as a school are creating leaders who are inquiry-driven and rational decision makers.

I completed my CELTA from British Council, Mumbai in 2015 and I have an academic background in Journalism and Sociology.

My interests are inclined towards matters of truth, critical thinking, research and social order. I have travelled solo across India over the past 10 years working in NGOs and living with different communities. This experience has helped me understand the world from many unique vantage points, from those of local inhabitants to foreign travellers. That’s why I enjoy my job and the subjects I teach at Paradise School Goa. This space allows me to explore my interests and discuss important social issues with the students who are the next generation of leaders. I

have also enjoyed working with the SOLE method as it justifiably places the power of learning in the students’ hands. It also helps me tap into the interdisciplinary nature of 21st century education.

I teach Information Technology at A and AS Level.

I have moved through a variety of learning spaces, weaving in and out of different disciplinary departments. I have an undergraduate degree in Liberal Arts from the Symbiosis School of Liberal Arts, and a Masters degree in Environment and Development from Ambedkar University, Delhi. 

My interest in working with open source software for Human Ecology research is what brought me to start teaching IT at Paradise. I feel strongly about nurturing and preserving environments that encourage (un)learning— those that hold space for discussions, questions and deep engagement with concepts.

We adopt an application based approach where learners bring in their own interests and ideas, understanding ways in which different IT tools can be applied. I am drawn to the inter-disciplinary and unique perspectives that emerge out of this confluence, especially those that thrive on the peripheries. Teaching at Paradise allows me, and the learners, to walk along this periphery — learning, taking and sharing all that we can.

At A Level, our aim is to teach concepts by relating it to our daily lives, making the teaching-learning process more fun and engaging.

Students at Paradise School Goa get an opportunity to learn beyond the curriculum and be ready to take on challenges with a calm and confident mind.

I am a passionate Maths teacher with 6+ years of experience in High School and Middle School environments. I have designed curriculums with an emphasis on practical problem solving. My aim is to create effective instructional programs to target an individuals’ learning gaps by meeting the needs of all learners. This makes learning a more immersive and interactive experience for all.

I teach English at A and AS Level.

I come to Paradise with the mature, soft footsteps of a long journey, and currently function as the Academic Mentor and English facilitator to the AS & A Levels.  A ‘beyond the framework’ approach to learning underlines my way to excellence; and Paradise is the space that can truly capture this sentiment. It is a ‘Learning Organisation’ in itself.

If shifting to Goa is a shift in the mind, then coming to Paradise is a paradigm shift – for me, for the learners, and for that which is learned. It is for this that I am here, at Paradise. A Cambridge International curriculum is the right choice for this dynamic age, and at Paradise we make it happen for the Learner. (Yes, a curriculum needs to ‘happen’ and not just be delivered!)

A string of qualifications, ranging from a Ph.D. to an MBA to International Certifications in diverse fields, and long happy years of ‘facilitating learning’ took me through Schools, Universities, Institutions, Multi-lateral agencies, and more. Some key achievements on the way were the development of Competency Mapping & Appraisal system for Teachers, Teacher-mentoring, Empowered parenting, Matrix for Academic Management, and designing courses and programs for inter-disciplinary, global learning.

A rich 360’ degree academic world (knowledge-skills-performance) and competency is what I bring into the English classes, as well as the Academic Mentor role.
